Cylinders

Comprehensive unvented cylinder installation service.

At CBG Heating, we offer expert hot water cylinders installation, repair, and servicing. Our G3 qualified engineers ensure your unvented cylinder is installed safely and efficiently. We work with top brands like Telford, Megaflo, and Gledhill to provide high-quality, reliable solutions for your hot water needs.

The water in a hot water cylinder is stored under high pressure, and this pressure is created by the inlet water supply. Unvented cylinders do not increase the water pressure within your home. Like traditional vented systems, your boilers and an electric immersion heater can be used to heat the water.

Unvented cylinders must always be installed by a qualified G3 engineer, certified and council registered. Trust our experienced, and fully qualified heating engineers at CBG Heating to take care of your hot water cylinder for you.

What is an unvented cylinder?

Unvented hot water cylinders are fed directly from the cold mains water supply. They deliver hot water at mains pressure, which can improve the performance if your shower has limited pressure or your bath is slow to fill. An unvented hot water cylinder doesn't require a cold water storage tank, which saves space and is ideal for flats and houses with loft conversions.

Water can be heated directly via an immersion heater or indirectly via the central heating system, solar panel system, or other renewal energy such as heat pumps and biomass. If you have solar heating or a heat pump, you may wish to consider a thermal store. Our engineers can help advise you on this.

The unvented cylinder and the system have numerous safety mechanisms, such as an expansion vessel, pressure relief valves and twin thermostats.

To ensure your safety you need a G3 qualified engineer to service your unvented hot water cylinder every year. CBG Heating can service your unvented cylinder for you.

A vented hot water cylinder is the more traditional approach. In this approach, a cold-water storage tank is kept in the loft; the natural pull of gravity carries this water via a vent pipe down to the hot water cylinder, which heats it.

Vented cylinders rely on gravity and the height of the cold-water tank dictates the pressure. The greater the height, the more powerful the water pressure. This means that the cold-water tank will be usually placed in the loft.

  • Space Saving: No need for a cold-water storage tank. Ideal for flats and loft conversions.
  • High Pressure: Provides hot water at mains pressure, improving shower performance and bath filling times.
  • Versatile Heating: Can be heated via immersion heater, central heating, solar panels, or other renewable energy sources.
